Welcome to Rumney Primary School.
Rumney “Primary” School serves the children and community of Rumney. Our school is part of the Cardiff East Cluster working closely with the other local primary and secondary schools. Currently we have nearly 500 children on role.

We strive to make sure that all the children in our care are safe and happy. We are a Nurturing school. We expect all members of our school community to work hard to achieve the very highest possible standards in all that we do. We encourage and support our learners to achieve their full potential alongside supporting their social and emotional well-being. The Six Principles of Nurture are central to our ethos and vision for every pupil and all members of wider school community.

We are very proud of our achievements and successes. Staff, governors, parents/carers and pupils work closely together to ensure that the school is effective and that pupils are highly motivated, successful and enjoy a strong sense of achievement.

We pride ourselves on our focus on the social and wellbeing of all our pupils and in the wide range of learning experiences and opportunities our children are able to participate in. The children are actively involved in developing their own learning and their knowledge, understanding and skills across the curriculum. The children thrive on our creative approach to the curriculum where purposeful and meaningful contexts inspire the children to seek further learning and opportunities meets the needs of all learners at school.

Our children really enjoy being active and take part in a wide range of extra curriculum activities. The children are the very best ambassadors they can be representing Rumney Primary School in different sporting events, dance shows, choir and inter-school competitions wherever and whenever possible. All of these have been limited during the two academic years due to the pandemic.

The views of our children are very important to us. The children are able to discuss issues with the School Council, they are listened to and valued to ensure they have ownership and pride in their school.

We hope that this prospectus gives you a good overview of our school and our approach to school life. We would usually encourage you to visit us and see for yourself the excellent education and opportunities that we provide. However under the current situation we are unable to do this due to Covid-19 virus. If you have any further questions about your child/children joining Rumney Primary School please don’t hesitate to give school a call.

Best wishes,
Mrs E Williams
