Things to remember:
Bring your fruit snack and water bottle to school daily
Wear black or grey jogging bottoms / leggings and velcro shoes (with your school polo shirt and jumper) on P.E days Wednesday and Thursdays
Keep an eye on the Reception notice board for messages and dates
Check SCHOOP for messages and videos to help at home
Book bags come to school every Wednesday and go home on a Friday
Our topic is ‘Happy, Healthy Me!’
We are thinking about how to keep our bodies happy and healthy.
We have turned our role play areas into a Gym and a Health Clinic.
The children have decided to find out about how different jobs can keep us safe. We are lucky enough to have some of our parents/carers come into school to talk about their jobs.

We had fun dressing up for World Book Day…
The Great British Weather
We had a very enjoyable time playing outside in the snow…
We built a snowman!
We built ‘snow castles’
We investigated the ice outside, talked about how it felt and why it was frozen
We had great fun learning about Chinese New Year…
We followed instructions to make a Chinese noodle stir fry. Then we used chopsticks to eat it. This was tricky and it required a lot of patience and practice!
We had great fun outside drawing Chinese symbols for numbers
During Welsh week we built Cardiff Castle using building blocks. The children had tremendous fun ‘defending’ the castle from outside ‘invaders’…
Welcome back to the Spring Term.

We’ve had an extremely busy few weeks enjoying lots of exciting and fun activities relating to our topic ‘Food Glorious Food’.
We were lucky enough to have Domino’s Pizza visit the school and they showed us how to make our very own yummy pizzas!
First, we kneaded the dough.
Then we spread the tomato passata.
After that we sprinkled on the cheese.
Next, we chose our favourite toppings. Finally we took our pizzas home to cook and eat!
We’ve also had lots of fun in the classroom doing pizza craft…
We’ve turned our role play area into the ‘Rumney Cafe’. Children have enjoyed dining at the café, ordering many of their favourite foods from the menu, and paying the bill!
We followed a recipe and made some tasty jam sandwiches…
We cut them in half and took them home to eat!
We even made ‘giant’ jam sandwiches outside using building blocks…
Outside, we took pizza orders from ‘Domino’s’, picked the pizzas up from the ‘counter’ and delivered them to customers on our bikes.
We’ve been reading ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’ and have built some wonderful caterpillars using connectors…
Our new topic is ‘Let’s Celebrate!’

Our topic for this half term is ‘Rumble in the Jungle’.
We are reading the books ‘Down in the Jungle’, ‘Giraffes Can’t Dance’, ‘The Lion Who Wanted to Love’ and of course ‘Rumble in the Jungle’.
We are enjoying settling into our new classrooms and making lots of friends.
